Star Trek starship separation of U.S.S. CETACEANIAN, SigmaTau fleet

"Saucer Separation" ist das Abtrennen der Untertassen-Sektion eines Starships von seiner Basiseinheit, teils „Kampfbrücke“ benannt (wie bei NCC-1701-D). 

Seit 1966 für die NCC-1701 im Fortschreiben von TOS erst nur spekulativ angenommen und damit ein Trekkie-Thema zur originalen Serie, aber nie gezeigt. Später in den Tiefen rund um Roddenberry's Literatur beschrieben. Zwei Dekaden später in der Nachfolgeserie 

TNG „Das nächste Jahrhundert“ konnten Trekkies diesen Vorgang endlich bei der ENTERPRISE-D bestaunen. In den Filmen auch gelegentlich durchgeführt.

Da versteht sich, dass ich meine SigmaTau-Fleet-Konstruktionen so vorplante, dass dies ebenso möglich und realisierbar veranschaulicht wird... :-)

Wie bedeutsam diese Prozedur ist, zeigt sich u.a. auch daran, dass in Film XIII "Beyond" (2016), der die Chronik der Urserie umfasst, solch Separation (wenngleich destruktiv) manuell ausgelöst wurde – von Uhura. Das ist honourable Fan-Kult...
